Senior Hardware Engineer



My client specialises in providing embeded computing solutions to the aerospace, defense and commercial markets.



Do to expansion, they currently have a vacancy for a Senior Hardware Engineer to join them.



The main duties of this role are as follows:



To work as part of the product development team producing new VME, PCI and PMC Digital acquisition and synthesis boards for a range of radar, signal intelligence and software radio applications.

The successful candidate will combine skills in analogue and digital electronics, ideally in connection with radar, radio or communications markets.

As a COTS military supplier, our products are low volume and specialized and ownership of a product from requirements through to manufacture is a key part of the role.

Ability to interpret requirements and develop high-quality products on time

Ability to write good quality project documentation

Ability to work as part of team with hardware and software engineers

Adaptive and open-minded to new skills and approaches

Able to work on own initiative as part of a small project team.

Problem-solving abilities to address complex hardware/software interactions

To be considered for theis role candidates will possess the following:



Experience with mixed analogue/digital board development.

Experience with A to D and D to A convertors (To Gb/s sample rates)

Experience of high-speed digital signal integrity techniques (1Gbit/sec +)

Experience of VME or PMC board design

Experience with Mentor design tools for schematic capture

Experience in Environmental testing and qualification procedures

Experience of Design for Test in low volume contract manufacturing (e.g. JTAG testing)

Knowledge of Radar, SigInt and/or communication system design

Knowledge of FPGA development (prefer Xilinx).

Technically aware and keen to learn new skills

Ability to make sound judgements

Able to work both as part of team and alone

Excellent organisation skills

Ability to prioritise and work to deadlines

Good written and oral communication skills.
